About this project

The College Management System is a full-stack platform that brings a college's academic, administrative and financial work into one system. It has a single REST API that both a React web app and a Flutter app use. Users log in with JWT, and each of the eight roles gets its own portal with its own permission rules.

Portals and key features:

Admin: manage users, students, teachers, classes, subjects, timetables, grading scales, class fees and system settings. Admins can create student and parent portals in bulk, import parents from CSV, reset passwords and post announcements.
Principal: dashboard with school-wide stats, teacher profiles and evaluations, staff management, student records, academic progress, attendance overview, discipline records, leave-request approvals and reports.
Admission Officer: handles the whole admission process, covering new applications, document verification, entrance tests, merit lists, and moving admitted students into the student portal. Seat availability is tracked per class.
Exam Officer: create and schedule exams, generate roll-number slips, prepare merit lists, publish results, issue transcripts and keep BISE (board) records.
Accountant: fee challans and collections, pending fees, salary management, expenses, fines, budget allocations and financial reports.
Teacher: class management, attendance, gradebook, assignments, uploading course materials, a to-do list and messaging.
Parent: follow each child's grades, attendance and fees, and message the school.
Student: dashboard, courses, schedule, assignments, grades, transcript, fees and notices.

Supporting features: automated emails through a queue-based service (such as portal credentials and password-reset reminders), scheduled background jobs, audit logging, PDF output (challans, slips, transcripts and reports), charts and analytics dashboards, and file uploads. The MySQL database has more than 100 tables covering academics, finance, admissions, exams and communication, and it is hosted on Railway.
